First of all, you should consider your activity as an Amazon affiliate as a real job. Because that's exactly what it is: a job! Even if you do it part-time, you should always treat it like a job and make a serious effort to do your job right.
The next point to remember is that there are no guarantees: neither for a high income, nor for a stable or long-term income. You can be kicked out of the affiliate program by making a small mistake and not return.
It's also important to note that you should never quit a regular job prematurely to join Amazon as an affiliate. It may take you years to earn enough to replace a traditional job with your income online…
…and there's not even a guarantee that it will ever work out!
Once you're an affiliate with Amazon, you'll have to decide how to attract the customers you want to send to Amazon through your affiliate link. You can start with your Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or Instagram profile.
In the long run, there's no way around having your own website or blog, because only when you have your own advertising platform that is 100% yours, you have full control over how you generate visitors on the internet and how you lead them to Amazon.
The most successful Amazon affiliates own a topic-specific website or blog and have the Amazon ads neatly embedded in the content. A visitor reads an article and sees a product recommendation somewhere in the article that matches the content, clicks on it, orders something from Amazon and brings a commission into the affiliate coffers.
Finally, I would like to point out that it takes a lot of discipline to become a successful Amazon affiliate. It doesn't happen in a few months, it can take a year or more.
You have to keep at it, learn, test and improve.
